I grew up in an area (Silicon Valley) and time (GenX) when we introduced ourselves by our name and what we did for a living. I still largely do this. A big part of my identity is in what I do, and who I do it for. I am facing a bit of an identity crisis currently, as I don't know come July 1st if I am still a Sr Quality Analyst, or a part-time Quality Analyst, or an unemployed person looking for the next gig.My passions are with information gathering, organization, optimization, analysis, and using the results to inform decisions that drive teams to succeed, and workflows to be more productive - while maintaining or improving quality, team mental safety scores, and safety. I do this by asking strategic questions that clarify understandings and contexts, and actively listening to the pain points that stakeholders are experiencing - then rotating the information until a good fit is found for potential solution approaches.Ideas of what to look at next are always welcome, as well as for how to get into content creation (outside of gaming) and/or side-work that I can do to flesh out my income, if the result is, "Hi, I'm Aidan, and I'm a part-time Quality Analyst, plus independent business consultant."Someday, I hope to say, "Hi, I'm Aidan. I enjoy x, y, z." And then answer what I do for work only when asked. I'm not yet there.

Today's update to the identity crisis - come July 1st, I don't know if I am a part-time Sr Quality Analyst, or an unemployed person looking for the next gig. There is what they tell you, and then there is what they mean (via topic avoidance) - and the latter says almost as much as how they say the former.

Aidan, like you, I grew up defining myself through my job. That changed after a few layoffs early in my career taught me the lesson that I shouldn't live oriented by job first. A job is secondary to our existence and is primarily a means to an end, i.e., a paycheck to pursue what matters most *outside* work.Lastly, as Suzanne Montalalou, MBA has offered, please don't hesitate to look through my connections as well in case there's someone in my network whom you'd like an introduction to. Take care, my friend. 🙏🏻

An insight from gaming this morning:Need help maximizing technical skills knowledge-training; and I do not learn well at all from watching videos, due to some wonderful things such as an Audio Processing Disorder (I can't track both auditory and visual inputs to learn new concepts, at the same time, without intense fatigue & aggravation), light sensitivity, frustration intolerance, and dopamine-chasing attention deficit (which means that fatiguing and aggravating things are the first to be discarded from my attention, for anything even slightly more enjoyable, like the colors on the screen)...Additionally, I do exceptionally well with kinetic learning incorporated into a visual-design core, with opportunities for social building of skills, especially with 1:1 tandem dynamics; and, unfortunately, hiring a private tutor or coach just isn't something that I can afford - and the one provided by my employer cancels more of our appointments than they keep, and is more of a general "approach coach" than a "has-this-can-demonstrate-that" coach.

Clarifying questions, and when to use them:If it's for a definition, just use Google. If you're online, presumably you know the function of search engines, and definitions don't have a lot of wiggle room. Likewise if you are looking to define a standard industry term, as you will see many links, yes, but they will all say the same thing (relatively). If it's for expertise, advice, or decision making; or long-term strategies and industry-discovery; I do personally reach out to people that I trust in those industries, as there are just too many results to possibly know which ones are pertinent, without knowing the industries already. This relates to the Dunning-Kruger Effect, as many people with a degree in "lifelong learning" will take the most popular, or top results, from a search engine, and because they think that they understand SEO marketing well, and are a reasonably smart person, jump straight into using those links' results into a conversation, to feign knowledge - or worse, to drive strategies and decisions (yikes).Similarly, having a specific job title or role does not necessarily confer experience on asking clarifying questions - or require that one actually even does so. And honestly, most people prefer to not ask clarifying questions - it's easier to take the assumption that the person delivering the information has done their job adequately - especially if we are the one that put them in that role. (I had a district manager once tell me to hire someone because she was attractive to him, even though she failed a basic math test using a calculator, and it was a cashier role. I asked him if he would be responsible for shift shortages. He said that I would be, for hiring her. So, I refused his suggestion.)That, for the record, was a clarifying question:- If i do this thing that you are asking- and this occurs- will you duck accountability? We face these every day, all the time. The best thing about remote work? The use of Slack, Discord, Confluence, Jira, Trello, Gsuite, MS360, or other SaaS application suites to manage conversations. And the opportunity this presents for asking clarifying questions. Because of character limits, I will need to expound in a later post, or different medium. I am available on any of these platforms noted, fwiw, if extended an invite.Additional thought on verbal focused environments, in first comment.

Check out this job at Norstella: https://lnkd.in/eh-b_p6Z I wish... christopher o'bannon if you or Alexander King know someone, to my recollection, you have both had roles where you might have someone in your networks that could do this role. Devon Jareo, M.S. and Casey Quinlan even. your networks cross the spaces of life sciences + pharmacology + project management + data analytics + strategy consultancy that this role reads to me as seeking. fully remote, 200-230k salary. I wish that I were a recruiter still; and I wish that I were qualified for this role; I am lacking at least 5 of the 5-6 years of required experience 😆. I am currently looking, as my current role is tenuous, if any of you sees something that crosses junior product owner + entry data governance / data quality analyst + experienced regulatory compliance analyst & consultant - if such a role exists, I want it! 😀

My part-time business consultant (aka Dad) asked me to reconsider a post that I had made, so that we could discuss and refine the message first. I know that might be something that most of us think our parents shouldn't do with our social media, but I solicited his advice, as he's the subject-matter expert on writing for a business audience. It took me a while to get to it (as I have been working since then), but it got done. No real pushback from me.Because I trust his work and motives, and his expertise in this area. Writing this so I can still feel that I posted something insightful today. :D"Don't solicit feedback from experts, if the only words you listen to are your own."

Does anyone at UnitedHealthcare know of recourse against Radiology Partners for their business practices, or if I can benefit from the litigation that your organization has been involved in with them?- https://lnkd.in/eez4bBWg- https://lnkd.in/euWjRJrvMy appointment (text confirmed) was with Premier Radiology, an in-network provider for UHC. I received a billing text from Middle Tennessee Imaging, who is DBA Premier Radiology through a partners-program. Calling the number for Middle Tennessee Imaging, it is answered as Radiology Partners, Nashville. "Radiology Partners Nashville" in a search engine returned those two links (and many others). The reviews, that I didn't think to look at prior to going for such a straightforward, simple thing as ultrasound imaging over my skin, note that this company has a history or claiming the in-network provider to get appointments from UHC members, and then bills it through Middle Tennessee Imagine, which is an out-of-network provider. So instead of the $300 that the people at "Premier" quoted to me, I am getting charged OOP for $1700, and having to go through other means to seek recourse. At the time of the appointment I verified with the staff there that they are an in-network provider for my insurance, and the estimated costs ($300). That is how much the insurance will pay.It feels like intentional fraudulent billing practices, to obtain more for their services than the insurance will allow, to pass deceptively to the consumer. I think that my next call will be to the AG for Nashville, if I can't get this resolved; unless I receive a message from a Nashville attorney, first, as I am soliciting my interest, in the event that I need one. This is not a one off, based on the aforementioned reviews. The person that answered the lines for "Radiology Partners Nashville" sounded like the background that you get for offshore customer service representatives, and the person had difficulty understanding what I was requesting, information wise. Possibly because I was not following the script of what they expect people to ask about.I have also put in a call to as the referring partner for my primary care provider, in the hopes that they can help to resolve this, as I did specify that I wanted an in-network provider, as the prior company they had referred me to was out-of-network. I think actually operating as Middle Tennessee Imaging. So, I'm really confused as to why I am having this bait-and-switch experience with a medical provider.Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance will apparently only accept complaints against insurance companies; my insurance company will only bill the TIN for the in-network provider that I thought I was seeing, if Middle Tennessee Imaging resubmits the billing with in-network data.

In the words of White Stripes, "I Don't Know What to Do with Myself."I don't mind what I am currently doing, but with pending changes at the end of June, it really is just another job. You haven't seen me evangelize it in over a year. I don't really converse in the #neurodivergent talk-space anymore. I'm not trying to lead or influence the conversation, or really even participate. My thoughts remain the same as they always were on the topic, but I've definitely moved more from idealism to pragmatism. Same as it ever was. Underutilized; low challenged; expected to do the work the same way that anyone else would; not innovating; not trailblazing.I don't even know what I want to do next, and might take a year or two where I'm at while I figure that out, since my projects seem pretty stable. I want to have access to a lot of information, and be able to understand how it's being used, towards feeling a challenge, solution, innovation, strategy, or utilization that wasn't considered in that firm or industry before, that will excite me to talk it up with others; and impassion those others to invest towards those changes and improvements.Ideas are welcome. I am not a programmer, or would be my best use of time. There are legitimately several fields that I could work in, but for me it's more about the specific nuances of the role, and how the company defines contributions, growth, and evolution of the organization.Open to discuss.

Recruiter Mistakes - You want the perfect candidate, but can't be bothered to read our profiles. If someone recognizes who this job description is for, could you tag in the owner of the company, or whomever handles contract recruiters? You have a recruiter that's trying to finish this role, that doesn't even understand your "mandatory requirements" well enough to understand why I am not a match for this role, at all. I do not meet the "MUST MEET MANDATORY" requirements...Also, their English composition skills are atrocious... which is really bad if you are seeking an IV&V specialist, as IV&V testing is meticulous and letter-of-the-requirement specific in designing and executing test cases.=====================Hiring - IV&V ConsultantHi,I'm trying to reach you regarding a job opportunity for a IV&V Consultant. something I said to a former colleague today: I'd like to throw a monkey into the works, to wrench things around. this is different from throwing in a monkey wrench, as I'm not trying to break things; I just want to test the resiliency of the system, and see if randomness can elicit an improvement to the process. this might seem foolhardy, except that this is precisely what a good testing team does during smoke testing, and when designing exploratory testing test cases - we anticipate what we can, then throw in a serving of chaos to find the edges that we couldn't see in the darkness of a black-box environment. I am proud of the team that I have worked with the longest at Ultranauts, both internally and with that client. we make good discoveries, and provide useful insights that the client's engineering team leverages to create a better, quality product. and soon, I will have extra time in my days to pick up some side work; maybe I can do the same with your development team, or as a junior product manager (CSPO certified).creating organized chaos, to learn about system unknowns, is a special kind of fun, to me. let me monkey around with your systems, to see what can be wrenched loose.

At a high level, what I have enjoyed most - career, entertainment, hobbies - is aggregating lots of abstract information towards predicting needs and identifying the resources, team members, or approaches that will best respond to those opportunities, as they materialize. Sometimes they never do, or an outlier wildly changes the direction of events; but often they land close enough to where my prepared strategies work to capitalize on this forecasting specialization. As I look ahead to July, and my transition to an hourly role at Ultranauts; I am reminded of the opportunities I saw when I had looked at future roles with the company, that also included less available hours. The one on my radar most is to be able to provide contracted, specialized services that utilize strengths that I recognize as my own, that most people don't innately experience; in how my neurodivergent brain aggregates and orders abstract information into actionable insights for others. Ideas on where to begin this endeavor, and how to prove it's value, are welcome; as mostly you have to trust in me, and typically that will come from a conversation + access to processes, people and information.
