Using Letter Space to Connect Cursive Font in Cricut Design Space

1. The first way, and maybe the easiest, is to use the Letter Space tool at the top of your canvas on Cricut Design Space.

With your text highlighted, look at the top of the Cricut canvas. Do you see where it says Letter Space? Click the up or down arrow to make the space between the letters bigger or smaller. Once you connected the cursive font you are ready to move to the next step in your project.

That was easy, wasn’t it?

Using the UnGroup Feature to Connect Cursive Font in Cricut Design Space

2. The second way I have found to connect cursive font in Cricut Design Space to to UnGroup the letters from each other.

There are two ways to do this. While your text is highlighted look at the tool bar on top again. See the one that says Advanced? Click on it and then click UpGroup To Letters. Now each letter in your cursive font will move separately.

You can either click on the letter you want to move and slide it over with your mouse, or you can use your directional arrows on your keyboard to move the cursive font to connect the letters.

Once the cursive font is connected like you want, you are ready to use it.

This is another easy way to connect cursive font in Cricut Design Space.

Using a Combination of Both to Connect Cursive Font

3. Sometimes the best way to connect cursive font is to use a combination of both of the first two ways.

There are many times that when I use the Letter Space feature on the tool bar that it just goes a squish over the mark or just under.

That is when using the UnGroup method works really well. It gives me free movement to make it perfect in my eye.

Welding – One Last Cricut Beginner Tip or Trick for Cursive Fonts

To make sure that your cursive font cuts out as one long word you will need to do one more step, regardless of which of the 3 methods above that you used.

When you have your cursive text exactly how you want it, go over to the right hand side and click on your text. Now change the color to white.

Once the text is all white you can then see where the Cricut will cut the letters. We don’t want to cut the letters as separate characters, we want them all to be attached. So we need to weld them.

Highlight the text again then go to the bottom right hand side and click on Weld.

Now look at your text again. Is the font all connected or are there still cut lines where you don’t want them?

You can’t really see in my picture example, but the picture on the right is after I welded and all the letters are perfect and will cut beautifully with my Cricut.

That is how to connect cursive font in Cricut Design Space. I know you are excited to go try too…so go have fun.
